Good Things

Here are a few reasons why I love living in Indiana (this is somewhat therapeutic for me since I haven't seen the sun in a few days and I'm missing CA and my peeps there)...

  • My kids have really good schools with music and art classes, and no portable classrooms!
  • Just outside my back door - 100_1759 we have deer, bunnies, turkeys and who knows what else
  • Cost of living is much better here.  I think with 5 kids in CA we would be in like a two bedroom apartment lol.
  • 0 SMOG, people are amazed when I tell them where I grew up we had days where the smog was so bad we couldn't go outside for recess, disgusting.
  • No crazy freeway traffic (well if you stay out of Chicago).
  • A lot less crime.
  • We can go and see people like Morrissey and get our tickets buy one get one free (apparently he doesn't sell out in SB) and be like five feet in front of him at a tiny show - The Best!
  • The seasons actually do change here and it is beautiful...100_0374

Aww the good ol days

Love this video reminds me of days of yore.  WARNING: this video contains a cuss word in the form of a hand gesture.  But it's funny.  Now that I am old the very few shows that I have gone to over the last few years I am safe in the back of the room, ha ha.

Toronto

A couple of weeks ago Josh and I went to Toronto for a few days for our anniversary.  I loved it.  Toronto has 2.5 million people and I swear I saw like 10 pieces of trash on the ground and one hooker and one bum.  I think that's pretty good.  Canadians are far nicer people, the rumors are true.  We spent most of our time eating and walking around, talking and people watching.  The best part of the whole trip was just being alone with each other.  We are such good friends and we have so much fun together but our typical day is he is out of town for work, I am going crazy with five kids and we send all of our money out to pay bills!  I am so glad we got a chance to get away from it all and just hang out for a few days.  And thanks Mom and Dad for watching the crew while we were gone.

100_1833 We drove out to Niagara Falls one of the days.  This pic is a little retarded because I am on my tippy toes and he is squatting down just so we could be in the same picture : )

  10. He is a humanist, he always roots for the underdog.  I love his big heart.

First day of school

So the kids started school on Wednesday and Zach started KINDERGARTEN!  It is nothing like when Madi started, she had two years of preschool and was born wanting to go to school.  But Zach on the other hand, I almost feel that he is not ready.  He was super excited (see pics below) but all day on Thursday (his actual first full day) I was wondering what he was doing all day, how will he get lunch, is he behaving, making friends, (praying that he doesn't crack his head open again or break some bone on the playground),etc.  And of course he has made lots of friends and having a great time.  One more case of mama's not ready, the kid is just fine.

Weekend recap

My dad and Tommy are here now.  We had a lot of fun this weekend.  We went to the Amish Acres art festival Friday, on Saturday we went to Ship and Shore festival at Lake Michigan and then on Sunday we went to church, went out to lunch and then came home and played trivial pursuit.  I love having my dad and Tommy around.  Here are some pics...
